Farhadi's movie stands next to 'Parasite' on Oscar list

Oscar-winning Iranian film 'A Separation' has been named on the Rotten Tomatoes list of Best International Film Oscar Winners.

Oscar-winning Iranian film 'A Separation' is ranked next to 'Parasite' on Rotten Tomatoes' list of Best International Film Oscar Winners.

According to RT, one of the most trusted online aggregator of movie critics, Asghar Farhadi's flick is on the list of ten highest-rated Academy Award for Best International Film. 

The flick gained 4th spot, standing just after Oscars 2020 best pic 'Parasite'. Bong Joon-ho's most recent film was the first South Korean film to win an Oscar and the first foreign-language film to win the Best Picture Oscar.

Asghar Farhadi's 2011 family drama was the first of his two Best International Feature wins with 'The Salesman' followed. The film is about a couple in Tehran who go through divorce proceedings as one of them prepares to leave the country.

The procedure is complicated by the presence of the couple's daughter and grandfather, the latter of whom suffers from Alzheimer's. The couple hires a pregnant caretaker to look after the grandfather, but the plot thickens when she falls down a flight of stairs.
